Bolivia Food
Comida de Bolivia

Bolivia food is famous for its picante de pollo,
tawas-tawas, and chuño-phuti. Genuine
Bolivian flavors truly on its own terms.

"Hispanic Cuisine On Bolivian Terms"

In the case of Bolivian food and culture, we find that there are quite interesting tastes, and interesting flavors to combine with that of the Hispanic heritage it shares with so many others.

Like many of the Hispanic countries, chicken is quite popular. Spicy chicken is quite a familiar aspect in Hispanic cuisine. Yet, still, there are unique additions to the Picante de Pollo that emerges from Bolivian kitchens.

The combinations of vegetables, spices and the chicken as well would certainly create interest in even the most discerning of palates. One intriguing addition is called chuño phuti or frozen potatoes, don’t worry, by the time they reach the table, they are fully cooked. This would be quite similar to fried potatoes or baked potato wedges depending on the region.

A most interesting dessert combination would no doubt have to be considered as the cinnamon sorbet found in Bolivia. Now, when you consider sorbet, you don’t consider it to be Hispanic in nature.

Yet in actuality, it’s quite collectively created in many other places in similar fashion. The Spanish word for sorbet is sorbete or sherbet if you prefer an English translation.

Yet another version of fritters has been located in the culture of Bolivia and they have quite the unique name for this as well. The Bolivians call fritters tawa-tawas. What would be unique would be the use of cane honey in their creation.

These various flavors span all areas of a Bolivian food menu including breakfast, dinner and dessert. It can be an intriguing challenge to the palate, no matter how educated, to bring the many varieties of Hispanic menu items to the same table for a simple sampling.

There are so many choices to make, so much variety to be had that there would simply be no possible way to experience them in one sitting.

This is the beauty of Bolivia food in that you may find the most interesting pieces of culture not all in one place, but instead in a great many because every culture, regardless of how many explorations have occurred within them, will have something new, something refreshing and something intriguing all at once.
