"Republic of Costa Rica"

One of the reasons many people choose to learn Spanish in Costa Rica is that the people here speak the language slower and clearer than in most other Spanish –speaking countries. The dialect, however, is not the same Castillian form of Spanish that you find in Spain.

For example, in Costa Rica the word “vos” is used for “you” instead of “usted”. The language is also filled with sayings unique to Costa Rica, such as the use of “ico” instead of “ito”. Instead of saying “momentito” you would say “momentico”.
